2010 “National Marine Rating of Ukraine” awarding ceremony was held on March 24 in Odessa Marine Trade Port. This ceremony was first held four years ago, and was initiated by “Ports of Ukraine” national industry magazine together with “BlackSeaTrans” information analytics center. The event was supported by the Ministry of Transportation of Ukraine, the “Union of port operators”, “International Forwarders of Ukraine”, the International Association of Azov-Black Sea Basin Shipowners (BINSA), and many others. The winners are determined by a range of precise numbers, like the number of tons transported, the number of docks built, the percentage of yearly growth, atc.
The winners in “Man of the Year” and “The Achievement of the Year” nominations were determined by a group of 70 distinguished industry experts and top-managers. This year the motto of the event was focused on what’s important in our (and every other industry across the board) – professionalism. “The marine choice of Ukraine” – it proudly stated. Despite of the fact that the crisis is not through yet, many of the industry players have had significant successes this year. Odessa mayor Alexei Kostusev and deputy chief of Verkhovna Rada Committee on Transportation and Communication Yuriy Kruk.
But the first winner of the prize is Andrey Ivanov, the director of «Transship» group of companies. Former port worker in Ust-Dunaysk, he has created a whole fleet on the roads, allowing cost-saving and fast transshipment of all kinds of ships, including Capesize. This year’s “Golden Container” prize goes to Chilean company CSAV Norasia (128377 TEU), agent – “Economou International Shipping Agency Ltd.” The runner-up is the French company CMA CGM (114399 TEU), agent – “CMA CGM Shipping Agencies Ukraine”. The third place was taken by Danish company Maersk Line (110847 TEU), agent – “Maersk Ukraine Ltd.”
